Relaxed straight cut with a roomy rise and hips, created as a tribute to jeans from the WW2 era. To get the look and feel just right we researched not only the cotton yarns of that time, but also details such as thread thickness, unique thread colors, period-correct stitch width, etc., then adding our own Samurai magic to the mix. The denim comes in at 15oz and is made of Texas cotton spun into slubby #6 threads. Although this denim is relatively light compared to other Samurai denim types, the hard texture and roughness of the fabric has made it a favorite of many denim fans. Taking into account the specs found on jeans at the time, we went with several unique details such as olive-colored herringbone pocket bags as well as leaving some of the uncut portions of fabric as is (normally these parts are trimmed or removed on modern jeans).

The duel on Ganryujima was a famous battle between Musashi Miyamoto and Kojiro Sasaki, as seen on the traditional Samurai leather patch. It is one of the most well-known and talked about battles in Japanese history, fought by two of the most famous samurai ever to live. It would be no exaggeration to say that the history of our leather patches really began with this battle.
These are based on our S510XX regular straight, the first model released by Samurai Jeans, but have been bumped up here to 25oz for our 25th anniversary. The design of the back pocket arcuates are different on the left and right, the double stitching inspired by the Musashi school that uses two swords, and the single stitching representing the the one-sword style employed by Kojiro, paying homage to that classic duel so long ago.
Duel on Ganryujima: On April 13, 1612, the famous duel between Musashi Miyamoto and Kojiro Sasaki on Ganryu Island. It is said that Musashi arrived late for the battle, but then went on to defeat Kojiro with a long wooden sword he had carved from a ship’s oar.
